Art & Soul by Phoebe - Gallery Showing
This week - I had the great opportunity of meeting and working with Phoebe Wantz, Owner of Art & Soul by Phoebe Gallery in Muncie, IN. I had heard about her gallery through some artist friends and posted some pictures of my art on her site. Last Saturday, she contacted me about bringing my art to her gallery for her last showing. Unfortunately - Phoebe has some health problems and can no longer keep the gallery going.
Last night was the opening and I was amazed at how many people came through that gallery!! There was music and food and so many different kinds of art. It was a wonderful atmosphere and everyone was so kind and caring toward each other. It was what art should be. :-)
The coolest part of the evening was when a guy came into the room my art was in and starting furiously snapping photos of the largest acrylic piece, Heritage. He would take shots from a few angles - walk away, and then come back and take more!
I am so thankful to Phoebe for this wonderful opportunity - both to show my artwork and to meet this wonderful group of artists. Our hope is that Phoebe's legacy continues to grow.
If you get a chance to venture to Muncie before the end of the month - make it a point to stop by and say hello to Phoebe.

Pictures from the Studio Opening & Robert's Birthday!
Berhof Studio!
Berhof, the residence of the artist,
serene and detached from the outside world,
no creator of art wants to look at the destruction,
but to create something of beauty.
This is a place to believe.
Fellow artist: Mary!
Fellow artist with a studio down the hall, Cagney!
Happy studio opening and birthday, Robert!!

Ghost Dance
How bright is the moonlight.
I am the child of the crow.
Everybody is standing, watching.
I show it to my children.

The Transformation of Art . . .
The evolution of a a piece from it's beginning concept to yet another form of art.
This piece is entitled "The Power of a Woman" and has been shown several times.
...this sculpture inspired other art...
I had an idea to do a large acrylic piece, and while working on a small oil painting...
This piece emerged as inspiration for the larger piece:
An inspiration for what he would eventually call "Heritage."
Following are the stages the large acrylic painting went through:
Stage One: Heritage Transformation
Stage Two: Heritage Transformation
Stage Three: Heritage Transformation
Stage Four: Heritage Transformation
Stage Five: Heritage Transformation
So after all of this waiting - the FINISHED piece.
And it was worth the wait.
